News Release from SODA (Stop Oil Drilling in the Atlantic}
Seismic
Testing and Oil Drilling off the South Carolina Coast
A
number of oil & gas companies have already applied for permits to
explore the viability of drilling for oil and gas off our SC coast.
Please
join us for an evening of fact-based learning and respectful
dialogue as we raise questions, seek answers and share our experience
and expertise, while we learn
more about the potential impact of oil and gas drilling off our
coast.
Prior
to a Q&A session, we will have a presentation by Peg Howell,
to update us on the Dept of Interior pre-leasing process that is
currently underway. Peg is a resident of North Litchfield, has a
degree in Petroleum Engineering, and has worked with a number of oil
companies including Chevron and Exxon-Mobil. She has personally
spent time on oil drilling rigs in both the North Sea and in the
Gulf.
Whatever
your current thinking on offshore drilling, you will find this
presentation and discussion informative. It is a rare opportunity to
have your questions addressed by a highly qualified petroleum
engineer.
