SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS TO BE INSTALLED AT SEVERAL PUBLIC BOAT LANDINGS

Conway, South Carolina =96 Horry County has received state grant funds from Representative Kevin Hardee (House Seat 105) and Heather Ammons-Crawford (House Seat 68) to install surveillance cameras at six local public boat landings. The boat landings include Chris Anderson Landing, Red Bluff Landing, Hwy. 22/17 Interchange Landing, Reeves Ferry Landing, Enterprise Landing and Peachtree Landing.

Adding the cameras at the boat landings will help deter criminal activity and protect the property and lives of our citizens and visitors,=94 stated Representative Kevin Hardee. =93We hope more funding will become available and allocated to additional boat landings in our county,=94 said Representative Ammons-Crawford.

The surveillance cameras will be monitored solely by the Horry County Police Department to assist with investigations of potential criminal activity like auto theft and illegal dumping. As funding becomes available, Horry County will add additional surveillance cameras to other public facilities like the Horry County Animal Care Center, recreation centers, etc.

Book Signing:
TOM: A Life Saved ~ Lives Lost!
As we plan to celebrate the beginning of the end of WWII
with the Normandy Landings in June, 2014,

author
Goffinet McLaren
will be at the
Warehouse Book Store
In North Myrtle Beach
on
Saturday, 10 May, 2014
1.00-3.00pm

TOM” is the real life story of Goffinet’s father’s successful evasion from Nazi capture after bailing out of his Lancaster bomber over Belgium in 1943. This is not a history of the war, but as we prepare to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings that preceded the end of WWII, many of today`s generations are unaware of the horrors of that period when Hitler had set out to dominate the World. To set the stage for the reader, the author briefly recaps some of the events that led up to the start of the war in 1939, beginning with the rise of Hitler`s power in Germany in the early 1930s. Author McLaren then cleverly weaves her father`s story around key events of WWII, and includes the origin of her unusual name.
