Well...here is your chance! We need your opinions and ideas.
We have scheduled two meetings to get important community
input in the development of the Burgess Community Bike/Pedestrian Plan. The need
for improved pedestrian and cycling infrastructure was identified during the
development of the Burgess Community Area Plan. We are working with the Horry
County Planning Department and the Edgar Dyer Institute for Leadership and
Public Policy at Coastal Carolina University. Students have already taken
inventory of existing connectivity and gaps in the system.
The first meeting is set for March 26 at 7:00 pm at the
South Strand Recreation Center.
This meeting will provide an explanation of the process as well as
visual examples of different types of facilities along with a
discussion of important considerations such as safety, cost,
maintenance and user needs. There will be maps on which you can
actually draw. You will take a topical survey to help gauge the
degree of community support, areas most in need of facilities,
potential use,
etc. A visual survey will help determine the type of infrastructure
residents would like to see.
At our next Quarterly Meeting on April 30 we will see and discuss the
results of the surveys and provide direction. This meeting will also
be at 7:00 pm at the South Strand Recreation Center.
We will not be able to understand your opinions and ideas unless you
participate.
