Small-town Charleston, S.C., is a big draw for foodies. The historic coastal city is home to more than 150 restaurants and several James Beard Award-nominated and -winning chefs, including Sean Brock of Husk and McCrady’s, Mike Lata of FIG and Craig Deihl of Cypress. To cement its gourmand status, it throws the annual Charleston Wine + Food Festival, an epic celebration of Southern cuisine and culture that’s as Lowcountry as it gets. This year’s festival features tons of epicurean events to explore, and the Startle.com team has the inside scoop on how to navigate your way through the best of them.

The BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival is an annual celebration of the Lowcountry’s best food and wine. The four-day culinary event began in 2006, and this year the festivities run from Feb. 28 to March 3 in Francis Marion Square. The festival is considered one of the top food and wine celebrations in the United States, and attracts chefs, food professionals and winemakers from across the country.
